Concept: Plug flow biogas plant

Picture plug flow biogas plant

Plug-flow digesters equipped with continuous plug-flow agitator systems are a genuine energy-saving alternative to stirrer tank digesters when it comes to the processing of difficult substrates with a high total solids (TS) content, such as e.g.  grass silage or manure.
The maximum power input of the stirrer under full load is approx. 8.0 kW. The stirrer shaft is a split design and driven by two gear motors. The speed of both motors may be varied independently by way of frequency-control. The stirrer arms do not generate any feed motion, which helps to keep the load on the shaft low. This in turn ensures a long service life for the stirrer shaft.
The already digested fermentation substrate is further decomposed in the downstream post-digester as usual. The biogas created in the plant is temporarily stored in an uncomplicated and space-saving way under a stormproof inflatable film cover.

Desired performance:

  • 250 to more than 500 kWel

This specific plant combines the following advantages:

  • also for difficult substrates
  • no problems with high grassland, grass silage or manure shares
  • possible for high TS contents
  • very low energy consumption
  • high decomposition rate
